I began volunteering at an HIV service organization in rural Ohio in 1996, just as cocktails were becoming available. At that time, things still felt very bleak, especially in our LGBT community. I obtained my BA in Ohio, and headed straight to NYC where I spent the next decade plus working in HIV services and harm reduction. I finished my MPH during this time with a concentration in community health education. I am returning to Alaska with my family after working with the NY State DOH AIDS Institute on HIV care management and harm reduction Medicaid policy. I am thrilled for the opportunity to work alongside the Four As clients, staff, and community as we work towards for fulfilling the mission.
